• • Request a written ticket from police officers in Tijuana, Rosarito, Ensenada and Mexicali because you can send your fine in the mail from the United States.

Prior to going, make sure that you buy Mexican auto insurance, as it is thought of as a transgression to drive in Mexico without it. Now, I know that you insurer’s broker told you that his policy provided coverage within a limited distance in Mexico, and it doesnt matter. The issue is not whether or not there’s coverage for the accident, but whether or not you can prove to the Mexican law enforcement officials that you have insurance coverage. Remember that they dont read English and dont have any united states records, and cant determine any coverage. Additionally, not all insurance carriers provided coverage outside the united states so you cant blame him for being dubious of your evidence of insurance card.
